What qualified participants did
- Used eligible networks such as Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Optimism or Osmosis before the cutoff.
- Checked the wallet on the official Sei eligibility page.
- Claimed through the official claim flow after mainnet beta opened.
- Staked or held the tokens, since a claim alone did not set the market price.
Where things stand
Sei is a layer-1 network with its own SEI token. The original airdrop was tied to the mainnet beta in August 2023, and claims opened shortly after launch. We found no active SEI airdrop today. The latest posts on the official Sei blog cover protocol upgrades and technical changes, for example a v6.4 mainnet release and notices for exchanges and custodians, and none announces a distribution.
The official blog also hosts a general educational article on how airdrops work and how to qualify for them. It describes common patterns such as usage, staking and community activity but gives no SEI-specific criteria, so it should not be read as a promise of a future drop.
We could not open an official page that describes the 2023 airdrop itself. The figures below therefore come from a contemporary report in The Block, and they are marked that way in the facts list. Where the project has not published a detail, we leave it blank rather than fill it in.
How eligibility worked
According to The Block, the Sei Foundation set aside 3% of the 10 billion total supply, or 300 million SEI, for the airdrop. Eligibility covered users of Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Solana, Optimism and Osmosis. After strong demand the foundation raised the number of eligible wallets from 500,000 to 1.5 million.
The aim was to reward users who already behaved like real users on other networks. We did not find an official description of the Sybil filter or the formula behind per-wallet amounts.
Claims opened on 16 August 2023, about a day after the mainnet beta. We found no published claim deadline. The Block reported that SEI fell by roughly 31% after claims opened, which illustrates how a large initial float can weigh on price.
Risks and red flags
Claim events attract copycat sites. If a page offers "SEI airdrop claim" today, check whether it is linked from sei.io or blog.sei.io. The official domain list is short, and the project has not announced a new claim. Never connect a wallet to a site found through a direct message or a reply under a social post.
A real claim should not ask for a seed phrase, a private key or a transfer to a "verification" address. Treat requests for any of these as a scam, and keep large balances in a separate wallet from the one you use to test unfamiliar sites.
Also be careful with other airdrops from apps built on Sei. Those are run by separate teams and are not SEI token distributions, so their terms must be read on each team's own channels.
What to take from this drop
The Sei drop was broad and multi-chain, which made eligibility easy to reach but the individual reward modest for many wallets. A wide net lowers the barrier to entry and also dilutes the share each person receives.
It also shows that a claim opening is not the same as a rewarding outcome. The reported price drop is a reminder to treat an airdrop as an uncertain bonus rather than a return on time spent.
For now, the practical step is to follow the official blog for announcements. If you are researching Sei for other reasons, use the official docs for network details, and keep this page in mind as a record of how the 2023 distribution was structured.

Sei airdrop questions
Is the Sei airdrop still open?
No active SEI airdrop was found. The original claim opened in August 2023 after the mainnet beta, and the recent official Sei blog posts cover upgrades rather than a distribution.
How much SEI was airdropped?
The Block reported 300 million SEI, which is 3% of the 10 billion total supply, with eligible wallets expanded from 500,000 to 1.5 million. The foundation page could not be opened to confirm this.
Which networks counted for Sei airdrop eligibility?
Per The Block: Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Solana, Optimism and Osmosis. The criteria are historical and no longer open.
